Most people want a quick fix to dropping the excess baggage they somehow started carrying around in their belly, butt and thighs. Amazingly, bee pollen helps you maintain the weight you want to be, and seriously boosts your metabolism – leading to looser pants and a slimmer summer body. Bee pollen contains lecithin, which helps to dissolve and flush your fat cells resulting in lower numbers on the scale. Nice, huh? This is just a start of the remarkable effects this super food offers.
After taking a break from bee pollen for the past couple years after I realized that my body was having an allergic reaction to consuming it, I now believe it is 1 of the primary foods that is helping to bring my body back to the level of health I am used to living and feeling, after a few months of nervous system freak-out.
Bee pollen was actually the 2nd “Superfood” I started consuming way back in 2001 (the 1st was Vitamineral Green). I’m happy to have it back in my life!
No one is exempt to what must be one of the most spoken and understood words ever – STRESS. Stress can wreck HAVOC on your body, no matter who you are, how healthy you are, and how strong your nutrition program is. My own nervous system has recently been at its’ wits end due to a major stress that occurred a few months ago. I think food can heal though and that bee pollen is a contributing factor in helping my levels of stress diminish. I will welcome it with open arms and continue to relish in how great the effects are. If you’re in a similar boat, with any amount of stress, consider giving bee pollen a fair shot.
I trust and believe that all setbacks and traumas bring us to a place even more wonderful – and in the words of Cheryl Richardson, “Every day, in some way, we’re all being prepared for something better…”
Several weeks ago I decided to go for it. I bought some local bee pollen from my natural foods store (Good Earth in Fairfax, CA) and introduced it just a few bits of pollen at a time. For someone who enjoys savoring delectable foods, this would be easy – for me however, someone who needs to slow it down especially when I have the sense that I have re-stumbled across the very food that has the potential to offer just the TLC my body needs – I had to consciously not inhale handfuls of it. I am elated to say that I can now consume bee pollen with no negative reactions and am literally FEELING the immediate, seriously DEEP nutritive core healing that it is offering. Almost like it was *the* food I was missing…

How Much to Eat?
If you KNOW you do not have an allergy, dig in! A typical amount is 1 tablespoon and even more can be consumed; many start with 1 teaspoon and work up to their desired amount. Now that I have gradually increased the amount to train my body against the allergy (and it worked as I hear it does every time, few bits of pollen at a time), I shake just about 1/4 teaspoon into my hand and eat it straight several times per day.
Where to Get it?
You can find fresh bee pollen at any natural foods store, and online as well. Mountain Rose Herbs offers both the capsules and the fresh pollen. Ideally, you want to get local, wild and/or organic pollen!
How to Store?
Best to store it in the freezer to really ensure it doesn’t oxidize and that it keeps its potency. The fridge is OK, freezer is just better. I eat is straight out of the freezer as the pollen does not actually freeze.
When you add bee pollen to anything, it greatly enhances the potency of the recipe. Try it, it’s a super healthy food to incorporate to your regimen. Bee pollen is a TRUE SUPERFOOD! And… it’s cheap to boot.
