Love Yourself Healthy

Believe in yourself – your health, and
everything else, will naturally fall into place.

I could end the post there, but because it will be so gratifying for both of us, I’ll continue ;) I’m reading the book, Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing, by Caroline Myss and she writes in such a way that it’s worth quoting her directly (in bold):

How we feel about ourselves, whether we respect ourselves, determines the quality of our life, our capacity to succeed in healing.

In truth, if we do not like ourselves, we will be incapable of making healthy decisions. Instead, we will direct all of our personal power for decision-making into the hands of someone else: someone whom we want to impress, or someone before whom we think we must weaken ourselves to gain physical security.

It’s often likely that we will hand over our decision-making ability to the medical community, our doctor who “knows best”, or family member who speaks with conviction about what we should do.

Belief in oneself is required for healing. (Yes, yes, yes!!)

Before I realized the significance of self-esteem for developing intuitive skills, I would have stated that faith is  the most important factor in healing. I now equate faith with self-esteem and personal power, because low self-esteen reflects back one’s lack of faith in oneself as well as in the powers of the unseen world.

An empowered sense of self can also develop in stages, over the course of our lives, in a series of mini-initiations. Every time we advance in self-esteem, even in a small measure, we have to change something about our external dynamics. This is where food, lifestyle, and healthy living choices can be positively influenced! We have the choice and the ripple effect takes over.

P.S. Don’t just let this be another positive message you receive, only to discard. Think about it… are you really lovin’ yourself the way you deserve?

7 Things About Myself (One Lovely Blog Award)

I received this “Lovely Blog” Award and am grateful to Ela with Ulterior Harmony Blog for awarding this to me. Much love right back to you, sista’! This is a post where I share 7 things you may not already know and you get to know me a little better.

Here’s what you do with the award if you are awarded
- You link and thank the blogger who awarded you (as I did above)–thanks again!
- Copy-and-paste (or download and upload) the award into your own blog post–a teacup of roses!
- Share Seven Things about yourself (there’s the content/structure taken care of!)
- Nominate up to fifteen other great bloggers (happy to do so)
- Comment on their blogs to let them know to come pick up their prize (I’ll do so right after hitting ‘publish’)

7 Things About Myself

1) I am entirely devoted, and passionately so, to anything and everything that I believe in and love. If you know me, this will likely be the first thing you’d say to someone if they asked you to describe me.

2) I was ambidextrous as a child and in the 1st grade, the teacher made me choose between being left-handed or right-handed. My unconventional choices began then and I joyfully chose left-handed.

Taking pics of myself in the desert

3) I am a dreamer, an idealist, and believe the most extraordinary things can happen if we allow them to. I am a visionary, extremely hopeful, and think everything happens for a reason – and that there are no mistakes – just catalyst experiences and opportunities for growth. I have not always felt this way but life experience (and multiple tragedies) has shown me otherwise.

4) I am a very private person and a pretty shy gal. You may not recognize this because in my writing and online presence I am so straight-forward and direct, and the kind of girl who “tells it like it is”… but it’s true, really!

5) Hearing others make lame excuses for why their health or life isn’t where they want it to be is one of my greatest pet peeves… we all have the same power of choice and create our own reality, so take action and get on with it (if that truly is what you want)!

6) I’m really into self-improvement, growth, expanding and evolving in any way that I can. The choices I make revolve around this core idea. And, I immerse myself in information like Abraham-Hicks to reinforce this philosophy and improve my manifestation results.

7) One of my big goals in life is to be financially able to help young orphans internationally and children in poverty-stricken communities by drop-shipping them the freshest organic food, herbs, and Superfoods available to us and empowering them to see the light that can come from adversity (they would mix any powders with the clean fresh spring water available worldwide). Changing what we think of “drop-shipping” from the government or military and actually bringing vitality and health to those in need around our planet, safely (because many will be glass bottles, of course)!

I hereby pass on the award to these blogs:

* Christian Bates, Eco Lifestyle Expert, Herbalist, Raw Food Chef, Yogi
* Jill Bickford, co-founder of Living Earth Beauty, Natural Beauty Expert
* Angelina Elliott, Master Herbalist, Tonic & Tea Goddess, Raw Diva
* Amber Zuckswert of Epic Self, Pro Pilates Instructor (Virtual Pilates, too!)
* Audrey Barron of Be Bliss, Massage Therapist, Raw Food Chef, Health Nut

I look forward to how you respond to the award my dear friends!

Your Body Is A Temple, continued…

If you missed part 1, click here to read it now.

There are a few questions we need to ask ourselves when thinking about our body as a temple, and I’ll give you 2 of them today:

1) Where are you holding yourself back? You want to let go of the boundaries and make a decision to commit to taking action on something that you have wanted to do to live healthier, yet have postponed it for a more convenient time or better circumstances. Create the circumstances now and remember that success likes speed – decide quickly that you already are who you want be (maybe just under a few layers) and that you deserve all the wellness in the world.

2) WHY are you choosing to make more conscious choices? Not just simple general things like having more energy and looking better – but WHY do you want to jump out of bed in the morning, have steady energy throughout the day and be ready to rest easily at night?

Consider what the little things are that will make a big difference in your life and WHY you want them. I suggest writing them down to get really clear and to be able to reflect back on them, sort of like a checklist journal. When you do this, it will feel so good to visually see your progress and know just how far you’ve come.

With health, most of us want to feel our absolute best all the time, yet it can at times feel far in the distance and not always readily achievable. I am here to show you just how much is possible and how close you are to attaining it for yourself. Many times, it’s just 1 decision away and you can choose that right now for yourself.

Sometimes when we are learning about a new to a way of living, we postpone making decisions that would ultimately benefit us, we get intimated feeling like we aren’t sure how to proceed to really make it work for us, we procrastinate and then just stay where we are, and don’t change a thing!

So consider that you grow when you are out of your comfort zone and decide what new attitude, mindset, or action you need to implement to go beyond where you’ve been, especially if you’ve been stuck or in a rut – and then, do it today. I’d like to emphasize that the best things come to those who are willing to learn new information, even if it’s an idea they haven’t heard before.

So if all this health stuff is confusing or overwhelming, know that you are presented with the material when you are ready to learn it. That’s just how the Universe works. There is a popular saying that the teacher presents itself when the student is ready to learn… so now may be a good time to shift whatever needs to be shifted and to let go of any excuses that have held you back in the past.

Finally, do what makes sense to YOU. Ask yourself if what you are hearing really resonates with you at the deepest level. Tune into that intuitive innate feeling that we were all born with! The power is within and I am here to remind you of the potential that is within you.

Your Body Is A Temple

Just think about that for a minute, really.

The idea of this is that when you treat your body with honor and respect, and embrace pure living, you take actions with the intention of healing.

You want to make choices wisely and to be picky with what goes into your body. Compromise is not an option if you want an abundantly thriving future. Don’t tolerate compromise when it comes to your health because our capacity to enjoy life is greatly lessened without it.

Your body is sacred and holds immense potential if you treat it in this way. You will reap great rewards with this mindset and emotional strategy that will continue for years to come because of the choices you made today. It’s time to commit to achieving a new level of health, to let go of the excuses and take full responsibility of your current state of health and appearance.

If it is not where you want it to be, then you are very fortunate that you hold 100% of the power to change what is needed to move forward and do something about it. If you really want something, realize that it can and will happen. We should expect the best when the changes we make are acted upon with effort, commitment, and perseverance.

And, you can’t forget about giving credit to yourself where it’s due: you are reading this article in its’ entirety, which is a demonstration that you care enough to gain inspiration and learn knowledge that has the potential to skyrocket your health. Pat yourself on your back just for showing up. A huge amount of success in any aspect of life begins with just showing up.

When you are looking to implement a new skill or bring on a new way of eating, you inevitably need to break out of your comfort zone to successfully achieve your goal – otherwise, you remain where you are, which may even be stagnant. I have found that no matter what the choice is, we really need to step beyond our comfort zone in order to grow and evolve. When you feel uncomfortable and are in the learning curve, you are moving upward, you’re reaching toward your big vision whatever that may be, you’re becoming more of who you want to be!

We tend to have negative inner self-talk and think that we don’t know what we’re doing, whether that’s taking on a new role within your company or embracing a new evolved way of eating. I have learned that if you push forward and act on it anyway, whether or not you have full confidence, the rewards will trickle in and eventually begin to pour in.

People are reluctant to make changes because many times they don’t know how to do what they want to do and are lacking confidence in moving forward – yet it’s this very decision that could bring them to the next level to where they want to be. So, step beyond where you’ve been before and continue with commitment, with learning, and acting in spite of fear… and your experiences and successes will be filled with insight and will compound immensely.

Don’t Know Where to Start with Nutrition?

How do you know where to begin on your journey to eating healthier? What’s the best thing to introduce first, and the best choices to eliminate right away? Are you confused by all the information you’ve heard and have no idea where to go from here?

Start right HERE
Right where you are in the present moment with your common sense and your bodies’ innate knowing of what’s best for YOU. I believe that we all need to figure things out for ourselves by experimenting with foods and exploring new ways of living. You may want to sort and sift through a variety of health-oriented books (contact me if you’d like some recommendations) and expert opinions, but I’d steer clear from latching on and becoming rigid in your ways. Remain flexible and allow yourself and your eating habits the option to change, evolve and grow (which inevitably happens especially when you embrace conscious food + a conscious lifestyle).

Let Intuition Guide You
If you continue to follow what someone else says and disregard the underlying brilliance and ability of your own body, then it’s likely you won’t stick with the raw food and plant-based journey for the long haul because you’ll lose touch with your intuition. Not only that, but remember – no one knows your body better than you. Listen closely to the advice you hear, play & experiment to find what works best for you, and release the need to FIND THE ANSWER. The answer is within, and you’ve had it all along. I’m here to remind you as most of us have gotten pretty far off track with regard to how we treat our bodies.

Start with a REASON.
Why are you choosing to make different choices in regard to the way you eat? For me, the shift began over 8 years ago after feeling so out of control for someone else’s health, that I felt I had absolutely no choice but to do something for my own. It’s been a slow, gradual process, although some things did happen overnight and much quicker than I anticipated. I didn’t follow any one ‘expert’ opinion of what I should do, I just heard one of them say, DO WHAT MAKES SENSE TO YOU. I heard this again in the 2008 Rawkathon and typed that note into my phone so that I would read it often. I say this to as many people as humanly possible when they ask me ‘Where do I even begin?’

TRIAL and SUCCESS.
No one ever told me about how toxic calcium supplements were, I just somehow knew that I shouldn’t take them. It didn’t make sense to me. What did make sense to me was making a medicinal loose leaf tea several times per week of nettles, alfalfa, horsetail, oatstraw, noni and red clover blossoms (even though I had never done this before & just heard about it). Come to find out through David Wolfe (his philosophy makes absolute sense to me), these herbs are exceptionally high in silica which changes to calcium in the body, and therefore helps to build bone – just for starters. I gravitated toward making medicinal teas and the superfood green powders, innately knowing that plants must be exceptionally high in the calcium, iron, magnesium, and other critical minerals (they are thriving & surviving in our world w/ out any supplements!). No pills are necessary to meet my daily needs. I get it all from Superfoods and Superherbs.

Do the changes you’re making resonate so deeply with you that no one else’s opinion matters?
That’s how I know I’ve made the right choice for me. When I feel so strong and confident in something I’m doing or eating, and it’s irrelevant what he/she is doing, then I know I’m on the ‘right’ path. Personally, I don’t believe there is a wrong path – just trials (which are not considered failures) that really are your greatest lessons. I could list off dozens of foods that are superior to others and foods that you should definitely be eating to experience a level of health that is unknown by too many, but it’s not necessarily the same for everyone and this is YOUR ride.

Just start somewhere. Think Super Nutrition: Superfoods, Superherbs, Raw, Living and Wild Foods, Fresh Vegetable Juice (not pasteurized juices in a plastic bottle!), Homemade Smoothies, Enzymes-rich (uncooked) and Nutrient-dense (unrefined and unprocessed) FOOD. Add this all in… and the rest will fall into place. Keep asking yourself, Does this make sense to ME? When it does, and when your body starts feeling really good – you’ll know you’re on to something amazing!

Letting Go & the Art of Allowing

There’s nothing like experiencing something that really allows you to realize that many decisions (and lack thereof) stem from fear. Personally, I can’t stand the idea of limiting my potential because of fear! Life lesson: The power lies in letting go and allowing (without being frozen in fear). In my carefree life, the Law of Attraction resonates with me and I see it happening everywhere I am. So, switch off the fear button and think positive thoughts! Oh, okay – that sounds so easy! ;)

One of the primary contributing factors to dedicating my life to sharing what I know and have experienced comes from a place of seeing the quality of other’s life dissipate right before my eyes and not being able to do a thing about it. It all began years ago when the person I loved most lost their life to ‘terminal’ cancer. I say that in quotes because now I believe that illness and chronic disease are preventable, whereas then, I unfortunately didn’t know anything compared to what I know now. Without off-loading too many personal details, these circumstances were different; there was an exposure to something which did cause the cancer to be terminal (asbestos), however, it was the unhealthy lifestyle of this person that ultimately determined her destiny.

Suffering is not inevitable; compromise is not acceptable. Lifestyle and what you put into your body is everything. I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching, reading, and immersing myself in natural health information in hopes to save this person. My first encounter with a wellness center was during this time and I thought I struck gold. All that I came to know was too late to help the one person I desperately wanted to save. Now, nothing stops my path of helping others achieve outstanding, vibrant health.

The catch: this all goes to plan providing they want this for themselves, too. I’m an intense person anyway, and add to it this intensely driven nature to shift the mindset of the world (ambitious, I know), and do so in honor of the woman who gave me life.

I see this pattern with those closest to me. I recognize that no matter how much I want them to want the best for themselves, it really just comes down to each individual genuinely wanting it for themselves. Whether the passion and interest is there or not decides whether they take action. I can provide all the information, motivation, and inspiration they need, but if it doesn’t come from within, then the changes made in others (if any) simply won’t last. Some would consider themselves fortunate to not go through these life-transforming experiences, and the rest of us feel blessed to have been lucky enough to have persevered, and survived them.

Personal loss makes you want to give away and share everything you learned from that experience, to prevent others from unnecessarily shortening their life too. This experience was the pivotal point that ignited my passion for all things living. My story will be published in one chapter of the well-known book series: Thank God I, Volume 3 (expected publish date, fall/winter 2010). I am a contributing author with the inspiring Jack Canfield. Who would have thought I would become an author, publish my journey in writing, and empower others from my life experience? What a gift!
