Your Body Is A Temple, continued…

If you missed part 1, click here to read it now.

There are a few questions we need to ask ourselves when thinking about our body as a temple, and I’ll give you 2 of them today:

1) Where are you holding yourself back? You want to let go of the boundaries and make a decision to commit to taking action on something that you have wanted to do to live healthier, yet have postponed it for a more convenient time or better circumstances. Create the circumstances now and remember that success likes speed – decide quickly that you already are who you want be (maybe just under a few layers) and that you deserve all the wellness in the world.

2) WHY are you choosing to make more conscious choices? Not just simple general things like having more energy and looking better – but WHY do you want to jump out of bed in the morning, have steady energy throughout the day and be ready to rest easily at night?

Consider what the little things are that will make a big difference in your life and WHY you want them. I suggest writing them down to get really clear and to be able to reflect back on them, sort of like a checklist journal. When you do this, it will feel so good to visually see your progress and know just how far you’ve come.

With health, most of us want to feel our absolute best all the time, yet it can at times feel far in the distance and not always readily achievable. I am here to show you just how much is possible and how close you are to attaining it for yourself. Many times, it’s just 1 decision away and you can choose that right now for yourself.

Sometimes when we are learning about a new to a way of living, we postpone making decisions that would ultimately benefit us, we get intimated feeling like we aren’t sure how to proceed to really make it work for us, we procrastinate and then just stay where we are, and don’t change a thing!

So consider that you grow when you are out of your comfort zone and decide what new attitude, mindset, or action you need to implement to go beyond where you’ve been, especially if you’ve been stuck or in a rut – and then, do it today. I’d like to emphasize that the best things come to those who are willing to learn new information, even if it’s an idea they haven’t heard before.

So if all this health stuff is confusing or overwhelming, know that you are presented with the material when you are ready to learn it. That’s just how the Universe works. There is a popular saying that the teacher presents itself when the student is ready to learn… so now may be a good time to shift whatever needs to be shifted and to let go of any excuses that have held you back in the past.

Finally, do what makes sense to YOU. Ask yourself if what you are hearing really resonates with you at the deepest level. Tune into that intuitive innate feeling that we were all born with! The power is within and I am here to remind you of the potential that is within you.

Your Body Is A Temple

Just think about that for a minute, really.

The idea of this is that when you treat your body with honor and respect, and embrace pure living, you take actions with the intention of healing.

You want to make choices wisely and to be picky with what goes into your body. Compromise is not an option if you want an abundantly thriving future. Don’t tolerate compromise when it comes to your health because our capacity to enjoy life is greatly lessened without it.

Your body is sacred and holds immense potential if you treat it in this way. You will reap great rewards with this mindset and emotional strategy that will continue for years to come because of the choices you made today. It’s time to commit to achieving a new level of health, to let go of the excuses and take full responsibility of your current state of health and appearance.

If it is not where you want it to be, then you are very fortunate that you hold 100% of the power to change what is needed to move forward and do something about it. If you really want something, realize that it can and will happen. We should expect the best when the changes we make are acted upon with effort, commitment, and perseverance.

And, you can’t forget about giving credit to yourself where it’s due: you are reading this article in its’ entirety, which is a demonstration that you care enough to gain inspiration and learn knowledge that has the potential to skyrocket your health. Pat yourself on your back just for showing up. A huge amount of success in any aspect of life begins with just showing up.

When you are looking to implement a new skill or bring on a new way of eating, you inevitably need to break out of your comfort zone to successfully achieve your goal – otherwise, you remain where you are, which may even be stagnant. I have found that no matter what the choice is, we really need to step beyond our comfort zone in order to grow and evolve. When you feel uncomfortable and are in the learning curve, you are moving upward, you’re reaching toward your big vision whatever that may be, you’re becoming more of who you want to be!

We tend to have negative inner self-talk and think that we don’t know what we’re doing, whether that’s taking on a new role within your company or embracing a new evolved way of eating. I have learned that if you push forward and act on it anyway, whether or not you have full confidence, the rewards will trickle in and eventually begin to pour in.

People are reluctant to make changes because many times they don’t know how to do what they want to do and are lacking confidence in moving forward – yet it’s this very decision that could bring them to the next level to where they want to be. So, step beyond where you’ve been before and continue with commitment, with learning, and acting in spite of fear… and your experiences and successes will be filled with insight and will compound immensely.

Get into the Vortex w/ Abraham-Hicks Live Event Quotes

In Feb 2010, I went to another live event w/ Abraham-Hicks – it was enlightening and jam-packed full of excellent quotes and uplifting discussion as usual. Each quote below can be positively dwelled upon for hours; enjoy! To read the 2 posts I wrote from last year’s event, check out:

~~~~~~~
It’s not possible to be in the middle of a life problem without standing in the middle of a life solution.
You never accomplish anything when you are in pain.
Any discussion about what holds you outside of the vortex holds you outside of the vortex.
Dis-ease = Practicing discord more than allowing.
If life has given you an illness, life has already given you perfect health.
Well-being is the basis of this Universe.
A healer has to know that the potential for wellness must be greater than their patients/clients illness. See them unequivocally well.
Choose to move from overwhelm to EASE and FLOW.
Illness is about mood, it’s an attitude.
Tune yourself to the sweetness of life.
You have to see what’s not able to be seen, see it as you want to see it.
The more you focus on purpose, the better it gets.
Being in the Vortex, means being resistant-free.
Love is holding someone in the image of their highest good.
You have to decide that you want to feel good and then you’ll feel good.
Destiny is of thriving and wellness, and you are carving out the details along your path.
Timing is how long it takes your to get out of the resistance.
Stop commenting and facing ‘reality’.
Feel it, know it, and then it has to be.
Is There Inner Conflict In The Raw Food Movement?
While standard Americans are arguing over what chunk of the cow/pig/chicken is tastiest or healthiest, or if fish is really considered meat, those of us in the raw food movement have conflicting opinions as well and aren’t afraid to communicate them. This post is not a direct response to a recent Facebook attack on me (and other living Superfoodists), but one where I would like to openly share my perception about the behind the scenes of this immensely bright movement that is sweeping the world. We ARE growing (thank heavens) and therefore so are the (unnecessary) bashings. While some may not be ‘bashings’ – some are, against people, against certain foods, and who knows what else.
I am of the belief that to create the paradise on Earth that the raw foodists desire, there needs to be more acceptance of everyone outside of themselves. Placing judgment on others can be easy to do if their choices are different than ours, but does it really get us anywhere? NO. Does it make us feel right? Could be, but that’s a lame excuse to judge. Does it make us superior or better than someone else? Of course not. But… although it’s presence is relatively small, the conflicting energy is still present.
This list is extensive and I’m sure there’s more, but just because… (read below) does not make person A better than person B (or B better than A).
they eat handfuls of bananas a day and someone else feels their hybridized and super high glycemic and won’t touch them…
they eat only fruit and someone else thinks that’s the most depleted diet of all…
they follow a diet that calculates percentages and someone else thinks that’s total insanity to count anything…
they eat only fruits and vegetables and someone else chooses to also eat nuts, seeds, salt, algae, or seaweeds…
they eat only fresh fruit and someone else eats frozen fruit w/ a possibility of less nutrients…
they like to juice their produce and someone else thinks juice is sugar water…
they drink their fresh juice alone and someone else adds a green powder to it…
they drink distilled water and someone else harvests their own spring water…
they take tinctures of ant extract and deer antler and someone else thinks it’s gross and toxic…
they eat only food that grows out of their garden and someone else buys from their local co-op or grocery store…
they eat agave nectar and think it’s low glycemic and someone else thinks it processes like high fructose corn syrup…
they feel that raw chocolate (cacao) is detrimental or toxic to health and someone else feels it contains therapeutic amounts of minerals & neurotransmitter chemicals, and can be used like a tonic…
they eat all raw fruits and vegetables and someone else eats and thrives on raw Superfoods…
We, as the most progressive people on the planet, must come together and SUPPORT each other no matter where we are on the journey! Who cares if your friend (in-person or online) eats food that you don’t? Who cares if they thrive on foods that you are totally against? What does it matter? When we KNOW what is right for our body, it’s easy to say it would be the same for someone else. I’m paid to do this in my nutrition strategy sessions with clients, but that is people asking for the vast amount of information that will allow THEM to make the best choice that is right for them.
This is so easy: if you don’t believe something you hear, or it doesn’t resonate with you, let it go! There’s no need to retaliate or criticize, no matter how right you think you are. And if you don’t like what I say, then don’t read this.
#1 GUIDELINE for lifestyle changes: Listen only to those who are achieving the results that you want for yourself. Our bodies change over time, so find someone who you admire now, mimic their actions, and you’ll get what they have – and then adapt as you grow and your choices change (which seems to happen as the years pass). Choose wisely though, because if you diligently follow what a truly successful (raw) foodie does, you’ll very likely create that reality for yourself (then celebrate!). When I sold my raw Superfood skincare line, I’d honestly say, If you don’t think I have beautiful skin – don’t buy my products!
#2 GUIDELINE: Stand up for what you believe and don’t let someone make you feel as though you are ‘wrong’ – you are exactly where you need to be, right now (even if it changes later). I find that when I listen to those who say things with conviction, I get the best results… likely because it is those who are strong in their stance (and full of vitality and invincible health), that have reached the level of health that most people only dream of.
Come together… don’t bridge yourself… stop the judgment and name-calling, make friends, not enemies… and love that each of us is individual and that is what makes us all beautiful and perfect – just as we are. Act as though peace and love emanate everywhere and that it was our acceptance of one another that brought us to this beautiful paradise!
The Art of Allowing Workshop; Abraham-Hicks, Part 2
The moment the girl in the pink sweatshirt (and I’m calling her this because I didn’t get her name, even though we did speak later on) poured out her emotions, I KNEW she was the reason I was there. Here’s why. I had been feeling some doubt about the change of the name of my blog from the Healing Raw Beauty Blog to Edible Goddess even though I’ve received amazing support and feedback about it. I had concerns that people would assume I was referring to myself as the Edible Goddess, when really what I am trying to do here is empower others to feel good about themselves via what you put in your mouth and on your skin. That’s right, empowerment through raw Superfoods and raw edible beauty, and education based upon the non-sugar-coated (no milk-toast as some friends would say) truth, which seems to be lacking among some health care practitioners.
And so, we all sat there watching this sweet girl bare her heart searching for a way to feel better. I want to feel good, she was saying. I want to feel good about myself. Every single woman (and man) in that audience could relate, and I know this without having even spoken to any of them about this. Who doesn’t want to feel comfortable in their own skin? Don’t we all desire to feel like we’re enough? Yet, whose standards are we living by… someone else’s, or our own critical minds? And why aren’t we all the most ridiculously happy people on the planet always having the best day ever? Well, I agree w/ what Abraham says: Make peace with where you are… and maybe we’ll get there.
I’ve been super fortunate to have come to the level of self-love that I think escapes many. Edible Goddess is the platform for which I share what I’ve learned through life experience, self-study of raw foods, Superfoods, and raw beauty, along with the material of those who’ve paved the way and are truly happy in their life. My intention is that others see the potential within themselves and all the possibilities that actually exist.
After a short break to mingle in the lobby and scurry to find additional books and materials offered at nice discounts, I decided I had no choice but to go over and tell her how fantastic she was for bravely sitting in the hot seat and what I took from it. I gave her my website in hopes she would have the chance to read over this story and come to know the impact she’s had on refining my mission in life and therefore thousands of others to come. Thank you immensely girl… if you are reading this, just know that you are perfect as you are! We all want to feel self-appreciation, you just happen to be the one to bring it to our attention in a most powerful way.
I no longer have any doubts whatsoever that this was the right move for this blog and business name change and am actually feeling quite proud that I’m taking this on. Being pure on the inside and outside is a major accomplishment, certainly isn’t always easy, yet the rewards are beyond what could be described with words. There’s a whole new meaning to mind, body, and soul/spirit after living what I now call the Raw Superfood Edible Goddess Lifestyle. My previous business name/company, Organic Healing, and the Healing Raw Beauty Blog has merged and is now Edible Goddess.
The Art of Allowing Workshop; Abraham-Hicks, Part 1
Two weeks ago, I was blessed enough to go to the Art of Allowing workshop with Abraham-Hicks. I’d heard about it months ago that Jerry & Esther were coming to Seattle and I jumped on the chance to see this event in person. I had written it in my datebook and could have sworn I bought a ticket, only to realize literally the night before the event at about midnight when I thought to confirm and print out the email receipt that I couldn’t find it anywhere. Had I not bought the ticket? Guess not… and in my excitement, I must’ve somehow let it slip by as time passed.
And so I went anyway, knowing that I was meant to be there, for whatever reason I did not yet know, but knowing it was going to be big – I mean this is an in-person experience with the material I’ve been feverishly studying since February! They couldn’t find my proof of paid purchase and so I paid the extra to get in because at that point I didn’t care what it cost. All I wanted was to get in and felt lucky to even get standing room (all of this was happening within 5 mins of the start of the event!). How did the super-tall usher manage to get me a seat then in the 4th row, directly center of the stage? Manifestation baby…
It began as all the CD’s do, with Esther quieting her mind and allowing Abraham to come through. The energy of the room was quiet after the hundreds of people stopped chatting, sat in their seats and awaited the answers they came for. The first person to be called upon (which is the coolest thing ever how it’s done, with Esther pointing ‘over here’, and dozens standing, and that 1 person knowing it’s them that’s being called to the ‘hot seat’, which was literally taped & secured to the floor) was the girl in the pink sweatshirt.
She began overly enthusiastic about her new understanding of the Abraham-Hicks material and the revelations that lifted the cloud of her previous thinking. Due to the audio CD’s and reading the books, her perspectives had seemed to change for the positive, with just 1 aspect still needing great work. She spoke about her desire as an actress and her frustrating encounters with those in the position who made the decision that she was not ever right (thin enough, beautiful enough, perfect enough) for the roles she auditioned for. What did she need to do to not only get the parts, but also to recognize these unrealistic ideals, and to accept herself just as she was?
A very difficult feat seeing as though acting is an industry that picks you apart and strips you down, making you feel as though you are not enough, from where you currently stand. I know I was not the only one in that audience looking at this beautiful girl in the pink sweatshirt thinking these ‘superiors’ were crazy for not hiring her! She exuded such initial confidence until she expressed her heartfelt pain rooted in outside judgment. Her inner and external beauty absolutely could not be denied. How could they make her feel any less and why was she even listening to these people? I was disgusted with these people for making her feel this way and sob tears of disappointment in herself in front of hundreds of us, our unfamiliar faces.
Abraham pulled to the core of the issue… what was the emotion that she was feeling? She said disappointment. Frustration. Dissipated hope. Anger. Minutes later, Abraham knew these just scratched the surface. Give us more. What really describes the way you’re feeling? SELF-HATRED, SELF-LOATHING. My heart sank when she said this and I felt the energy in the room shift to even more overwhelming compassion. I wanted to run up and give this girl the biggest hug ever as she wiped her tears, showing no fear, just deeply yearning for self-acceptance.
TO BE CONTINUED… (soon, I promise!)
I Am (Proudly) Obsessed With Superfoods
How can you not be, right? I think about them all day. It’s like a love affair and I just can’t get enough. You’d think the honeymoon phase for me would be over since I’ve been slurping up every Superfood I can get my hands on for the past 8 (yes, EIGHT) years, but no, the infatuation just seems to build. And I love it, everything about this feeling, knowing the morsels of goodness it brings to my beaming healthy body.
I recently asked on Twitter and Facebook what I should write my next blog post on, and a brilliant response came from a friend. I had posted a link to the You Tube video called Visions of Paradise, one of the coolest videos yet by David Wolfe, and someone suggested that I blog on MY Visions of Paradise. So as I sit down to write this now, I recognize that I could match all that he says in the video (soooo worth watching) and then you really know how I would have it if I could wave that magic wand over the planet and make it happen. Without the power of the wand, I’ll just let us in the know of Law of Attraction make it happen and patiently wait as it all comes to fruition. But, I can add to this vision, and that’s my unwavering adoration for any and all Superfoods and the wish for all others on the planet to experience the PHENOMENAL benefits of these gorgeously superior foods. WHY? Well, should I dive into some personal things so you can really understand where my passion comes from? Just a few bits and pieces here.
Let’s begin 8-10 years ago…
I was NOT living the lifestyle that I am living now. I come from a nutritionally lacking childhood rooted in the Standard American Diet (born & raised in Chicago on pork chops, ribs, Italian beef, sloppy Joe’s, etc). So, eight years ago, when I began to really get into health and wellness, I would order my veggie burger with bacon and cheese (and think it was a fabulous choice because it was a veggie burger). This is what I would eat after drinking alcohol the night before without much discipline. I could put away way too much for a petite person like me to handle, yet I did it anyway (I was majorly coping through the most difficult, life-changing event I’ll ever experience – my story will be released in Jan/Feb 2010). Anyway, I was smoking cigarettes, totally addicted, chain-smoking and not caring (or not enough to QUIT for good), and in a place that is so far from where I’m at now that those who have recently met me would never believe where I have come from.
It was no coincidence that the girl I happen to be living with right when I moved to Seattle in 2001 had just become a raw foodist and introduced me to this whole new approach of eating. I had never even heard the word organic before, and had no idea what natural food was. She had begun a detox program and with one pinky toe ‘in’, I joined her and we started taking David Wolfe’s The Sun is Shining product (a powerful green Superfood blend that would change my life forever), AKA: Vitamineral Green or ReVitaPhi). Apparently, without my knowing, this green food worked feverishly to alkalize my depleted, malnourished, addicted body… and the rest is history!
Attracting Everything You’ve Always Wanted
I see evidence every day that the Law of Attraction is working on my behalf to create the life I am here to live. To support the changes I’m experiencing in my personal and professional life, I’ve been immersing myself in the Law of Attraction material around the clock. The general idea of this belief system being that the more often you think certain thoughts and the more attention you give to each one that comes through, the more likely it is for them to manifest. In the car, I’m currently listening to the free CD that came with the book I just bought, Money and the Law of Attraction, which is really just 1 of several books on the Law of Attraction worth checking out. The words that are spoken in this CD seem to have me nodding in acceptance, acknowledging these truths, with an understanding of the thoughts I must put more attention to – all to get to where I want to be. FYI: This CD/book is not just about finances and is relevant to multiple areas of life.
Nothing that you’re living is just happening to you; we are not victims of our own life or circumstances – our life, and perception of our reality, is a direct response to our thoughts and the pattern of thoughts that we’re constantly repeating and telling ourselves. Therefore, to create the life you want to live, there must be a deliberate creation of the life you want. It seems obvious when I heard it on the CD and read it in the book, but you must start telling a different story if you want things to change! Tell your story the way you want your life to be. Magic just might start to happen. Have blind faith.. what’s the worst that could happen?
I love this quote taken directly from the CD: ‘You will never again beat a negative drum and not have conscious awareness of it – and that is such a good thing because you cannot choose something that feels better, until you are aware of what you are choosing.’ I compare this to eating raw foods and Superfoods because I believe we actually do have control over our health, body, and quality of life, and that once we have the information, we can no longer make naive choices about what goes into our body. More often than not, you just can’t go back (long-term) to the old ways once you know and you’re on the other side of the tracks – it would go against who you’ve become and wouldn’t feel right. Now it’s time to apply this same perspective to the areas in need of improvement.
As I live and breathe this living foods lifestyle and it’s become so natural for me without exerting much effort to maintain (a blessing in itself), I can relate to those who have yet to arrive, as this newer way of thinking is not my default thought process every minute of every day. Interestingly, living foods and Superfoods play a vital role in allowing who I am to be fully expressed; they heighten my self-awareness and allow the shift to intentional thinking to be made with greater ease. When we eat food that is alive, at some point down the road, we are faced with looking at our old self, and as time passes, layers of the past shed off literally creating a new person (mind and body). Our potential as a vibrant being becomes more clear and recognizable, and begins to manifest. Now imagine if you combined all this together.. living foods and practicing this deliberate vibrational thinking.
For many years now, I’ve been contemplating sharing a part of my personal life that was key in bringing me to where I am today. One of the first blog posts of the Healing Raw Beauty Blog I even wrote about my desire to do this! I wondered how to best offer this, knowing it would provide the feeling of relief to me and hope for others. Coincidentally, at Raw Spirit Festival 08, I happen to have a booth located near a guy who was selling the super cute Thank God I’m Raw t-shirts. He mentioned this book series he was a part of, with stories from authors who had triumphed after extremely rough circumstances and experiences, and on the other side of the pain found a greater sense of self, and hope, waiting for them. Relating this to the Law of Attraction, in my interpretation, I put it out to the Universe that I’ve been wanting to do this and my thoughts have been on finding the most appropriate way to do so. Apparently, the Inspired Authors, LLC feel there’s no better time than the present and I will write my story for the 3rd volume of the Thank God I series that will be released at the end of 2009. Wow! I’ll be a published book author in less than a year! I am not releasing my chapter title until the release date gets closer (anticipation!). To me, this is just one example of the Law of Attraction working its magic.
I definitely recommend picking up this book and listening to the free CD, but only if you are really ready to take control and create the change that may just revolutionize your entire way of thinking, thus resulting in living your best life ever. What has been your experience with this way of thinking? What have you been able manifest as a result of changing your thoughts?
