Creating a Chocolate-y Drink WITHOUT Using Chocolate

If you do not want the potential stimulation or at times jolting effect of cacao, I can relate and understand. If you want the indulgent flavor without any perceived detrimental effects, then you can have exactly that.

In a whiff of inspiration to consume more Maca to feel super grounded and resilient to stress and a busy life + a desire to bump up the antioxidants without consuming the relatively limited choices of higher sugar fresh fruits (which have been less than ideal quality this year in Marin County due to the weather), I created this Elixir. I suggest there are limited choices because each year the fresh fruits are always the same and I’m getting somewhat bored with them. Fruits of the Earth has the common + exotic ones, and that’s what I want right now.

I usually just measure the 2 T of Vitamineral Green to make sure I get it in there and then do 1 regular spoonful of MacaForce and 1 spoonful of Fruits of the Earth, yet for this recipe I went with exact measurements to bring you a guaranteed strong chocolate flavored drink. To get more chocolate flavor, add more Dark Mint MacaForce and Fruits of the Earth.

I never would have thought to use Fruits of the Earth to make a drink have more of a chocolate flavor, yet every single time I demo it for HealthForce, customers tell me it tastes like chocolate (and there’s nothing in there that even resembles chocolate!). Creativity in the kitchen and a need to back off my cacao addiction, brought this sweet treat to you.

If you get any PMS symptoms, this is your remedy. This was a successful experiment and it’s too good to keep to myself. Before and during your moon cycle, have 1-3 of these Dark Green Chocolate-y Mint Elixirs per day. Your man will notice ;)

Dark Green Chocolate-y Mint Elixir

3-4 cups spring water
2 T Vitamineral Green (HealthForce)
1 T Dark Mint MacaForce (HealthForce)
1 T Fruits of the Earth (HealthForce)
1 tsp vanilla bean powder
sprinkling of organic white stevia extract powder (NOW brand)
3-4 ice cubes, made with spring water

Blend on high. Let elixir settle for 1-3 mins. Drink chilled and relish your good mood and nostalgic chocolate flavor.

P.S. This Dark Green Chocolate-y Mint Elixir will not be in my upcoming eBook, Superfood Beauty Elixirs. The launch of this labor of love eBook will be before the end of this month! (yippee!!)

Chocolate Caramel Fudge for Immunity

This recipe needs no introduction. Just make it even if you don’t have all the ingredients (don’t let ANYTHING stop you from starting something new!), and then… devour them. Even if you have just half the ingredients, as long as you have the first FIVE, that’s fine! You can make this any way you want; double up on ingredients you DO have so you reach the total quantity of teaspoons of powders in the recipe.

Chocolate Caramel Fudge

1/3 cup raw cashew butter
1/4 cup softened coconut oil
1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon local, raw, organic honey
1 T raw cacao butter
2 T raw cacao powder
1 tsp each: Chaga, Reishi, Lion’s Mane mushroom powders
1 tsp Vitamineral Green
1 tsp blue green algae (Elixir of the Lake)
1 tsp shilajit powder
1 tsp dark mint MacaForce
1 tsp mucuna powder
1 tsp vitamin E tocotrienols
1 tsp mesquite powder
1 tsp lucuma powder
3/4 tsp vanilla bean powder
1 small handful goji berries

If you don’t eat honey or want to use it, use 1/4 cup clear agave. Do whatever works for you.

Put all ingredients except your sweetener (honey, agave) in a food processor. Process. There may be a bit of oil that separates IF you include the sweetener in this first mixin’ – and if so, it’s okay – no big deal. If you do want to avoid this, just mix all ingredients together and STIR IN the sweetener slowly (in a separate bowl) after everything else has mixed well together in the processor.

Scoop little non-uniform chunks into silicon ice cube trays and freeze until frozen. Eat chilled – you may want to soften for just a couple minutes before eating for the PERFECT texture, ever!

Don’t put them back in the freezer; take out a few so you don’t do the crazy ‘get the fudge out of the freezer!’ dance (taking them out, popping out 1 piece, putting the tray back in in the freezer, craving more, taking them back out and eating another, putting it back in thinking you’re not going to eat anymore… then taking them back out… =)

You can get Vitamineral Green, Elixir of the Lake and MacaForce from HealthForce Nutritionals.

My Superfood Beauty Elixir Juice Cleanse (Days 3-6)!

What's Left After A Day Of Professional Pic Shooting For My Upcoming Superfood Beauty Elixir eBook

My super nutrition infused liquid cleanse lasted 6 full days and each was outstanding. I felt amazing physically, but what I mostly felt was an extreme heightened sense of clarity, deep reflection and quiet internal revelations. If there is any reason to cleanse, this has got to be it. Read more

My Superfood Beauty Elixir Juice Cleanse (Days 1 & 2)!

I’ve been ready to do some sort of a cleanse for several months now and have postponed it mostly intentionally. I did this because I wanted the weather to be gloriously warm when I made the shift to 100% liquid nutrition (although it really can be done anytime). I also wanted to be able to commit to eating less of my man’s raw Superfood kitchen creations and gourmet dinners, which are really hard to turn away. The meals he prepares are so mouth-watering and scrumptious, but I can survive on his Superfood smoothies and wild grass veggie drinks for now :) Read more

Addictive Spirulina Guacamole

This summer, I am absolutely addicted to making guacamole! (As if this is any different from other times of the year)

My new favorite version of this ultra healthy dip is…

The ADDICTIVE SPIRULINA GUACAMOLE

4 medium avocados
1/2 fresh squeezed lemon
1/2 fresh squeezed lime
2 cloves minced fresh garlic
1/2 – 1 chopped heirloom tomato
1/4 tsp cayenne (or to your ‘hot factor’ liking)
few pinches Celtic salt

Put everything in a bamboo or ceramic bowl and mash it all together. Then LIGHTLY stir in:

1 tsp Spirulina Manna and/or Spirulina Azteca (by HealthForce Nutritionals)

You can add more Spirulina to make the guacamole more dense and filling. Adding Spirulina gives a (blue green) cheesy quality to your vegan Mexican food.

Do your best to not eat it all before you serve it on the dining table =)

If you make guacamole like this often, you’ll find your metabolism is fired up, your skin glows, your hair shines, your nervous system is calm, and your belly is deeply satisfied.

I like using Spirulina Manna and Spirulina Azteca for countless reasons and you can hear about them all on the FREE Immunity and Longevity Superfood Nutrition Education tele-seminar Wed June 16 at 7pm PST.

3 Steps to Making a Superfood Smoothie

To make an extraordinary Superfood smoothie, there are a few significant things you can do to bring it to that next level. There are 3 steps that take this creation from a regular ole’ smoothie to one that will knock your yoga socks off!

1) Make a super tonic herbal tea. An outrageous tea can replace about half the water you put into the smoothie or the nut mylk base of a smoothie. Read more

How-To Make Smooth, Delicious & Balanced Nut Mylks

To replace dairy and packaged milks, there’s a quick and easy way to make it yourself at home that will completely surprise your taste buds.

Ideally, you’ll soak the nuts and seeds for several hours - usually overnight, but you can check in basic raw food books or online for guidelines. Nuts should be soaked for longer than seeds. Then, if you have a dehydrator, dehydrate them for 24 hours. Honestly, I didn’t used to do this because I didn’t have a dehydrator, but now that I have one and do it this way, I just think it’s so much better! Read more

My Low-Glycemic Experiment (w/ bonus cacao shake recipe!)

When I saw Christian Bates‘ low-glycemic Superfood smoothie demo at the Santa Barbara Raw Spirit Festival in June 2009, I was struck by the possibilities of eating a lower sugar diet. I was in the front row watching the demo, every move on how to create a *super* delicious smoothie that wasn’t loaded with bananas, dates, and agave.  My mouth was watering and I was in total awe after tasting the low-glycemic Superfood cacao smoothie. Homemade Raw Chocolate Recipe

No matter what time of year, everyone is indulging in chocolates. Making raw chocolates instead of the processed, cooked (all chocolate is cooked unless it says ‘raw’), refined & sugar-laden chocolates, can allow you to feel guilt-free while still sharing your sweetness with loved ones. Remember, eating raw food is not about deprivation; I find the raw lifestyle to actually allow guilt-free indulgence while infusing your cells with life force and nutrition.

Main Ingredients:
1 cup raw cacao powder
1 cup melted raw cacao butter
1/2 cup clear agave
1-2 tbsp raw almond butter (make your own!)
pinch Celtic salt (or mix of highly mineralized salts)

Optional Ingredients, yet use them if you have them!
pinch of white stevia extract powder
pinch vitamin E tocotrienols
pinch blue green algae

Blend in a Vita-Mix ideally (it may warm gently which is fine – you want it to be a thinner consistency for easy pouring) or in a food processor (smaller bowl inside the bigger bowl unless you double or triple the recipe). I’ve found the VM to work best. Pour into ice cube trays or cute molds and chill until frozen.

Keep this recipe simple the first few times you make it and experiment with different versions after you’ve gotten a solid recipe that you can default to in the future.

Raw chocolate on it’s own has no sugar, but of course the clear agave brings the sweetness to this recipe. I’m personally not doing much agave recently as a personal experiment, but having a liquid sweetener for this recipe is needed. From my understanding, the raw clear agave is the healthiest agave available in comparison to the others on the market.
